What's the big idea?!

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

I've been on this incredible learning journey for the last 6 months now and people keep saying to me that I must be Supermum. I have a full time day job in finance managing a team of 15. It's mentally tiring. At home I have two amazing girls who are 3 and 6 years who keep me on my toes, that's physically tiring. My 6 year old has a better social calendar than I do!

So how have I ended up here juggling a business in the mix? Honestly, by chance! I'd been looking for a sideline for a while but I didn't do more of what I already do during the day. When I happened to see on Facebook one night that the business was for sale it was a lightbulb moment (though I'm pretty sure my very supportive husband still thinks I'm crackers!).

It all happened pretty quickly. I messaged Emma, she came to interview me and the next day it was decision made. From there it's been a whirlwind. Some silly part of me thought a rebrand would be a great idea to allow me to put my stamp on the company and push forward the idea that while castings are my focus, it's not the only string to my bow.

The problem with that is all the work that's come with it that I didn't really think through. From creating the new logo to designing a new website and of course all the people who know and love Freddie's Footprint don't know that Memory Maker is the same business. Big facepalm moment, but when you make your bed you lie in it right?

Slowly but surely I'm getting there. My learning curve has been has been steep and I still feel like I'm learning something new every single day, but Everest is starting to feel a bit easier to climb now.

I have a load of ideas and now I get to explore them one at a time and find out what you lovely people reading this want and what you don't.

What I want to share for now is that there are three things I want to achieve as the Owner of Memory Maker.

  1. To continue making beautiful castings and bringing new ideas to the table that allow others to make memories who the people that mean the world to them.

  2. To bring parents (but especially Mums) together. I struggled with PND with both of my children but more so my little one. If I can do anything to help prevent that happening to even one other Mum I'll be happy.

  3. To raise money for charity. Freddie's Footprint supported the work of Philip's Footprints and I intend to do the same. I've started this through supporting the 100 Club (go sign up now!) and I'll continue to do this with the Bump, Baby and Beyond event and other work in the future too.

Supermum I most definitely am not, but I do want to be a good person and do my best by my family, my customers, my business and our local community. I hope you'll continue to follow me on this journey.

So here I am to stay! The Jersey Memory Maker! I love casting, my kids and juggling everything life throws at me with a good sense of humour.
